The Abu Dhabi World Trade Center at Al Raha Beach, resolves the contradictions of its site: providing shade yet also admitting light; cooled by a natural flow of air yet buffered against the strong desert wind; asymmetrical and sculptural yet environmentally and functionally coherent.

Located on the S C Johnson headquarters campus in Wisconsin, Project Honor creates two companion buildings: Fortaleza Hall, which will form a permanent home for a replica Carnaúba plane and convey the extraordinary story of H F Johnson’s flight on the aircraft in 1935; and the Community Building, which will give the campus a new social heart.

Architecturally, the project echoes themes explored in the Reichstag and the Great Court at the British Museum, establishing a creative dialogue between the old and the new, and strengthening links with the local community by making the building more open and accessible. This scheme for the renewal of the historic Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site extends the practice’s investigations into the creation of sustainable, mixed-use urban communities, continuing themes first explored in schemes such as the King’s Cross and Duisburg Inner Harbour masterplans.
